Reflections: Embracing Change and Growth
As we pass the midpoint of the year, it's a wonderful time to reflect on the goals and intentions we set at the beginning. Have we met those goals? Or have they transformed into something new? It's natural for goals to change along the way.
If we haven’t reached a specific goal, does it mean we've failed, or have we simply shifted toward a new direction? Sometimes, we may think about past goals we didn't achieve and feel a pang of disappointment. But what if, instead of disappointment, we asked ourselves why we set those goals in the first place? What made them feel so important at the time? What were we truly trying to achieve?
Reflecting on these questions, we might find that the process of pursuing a goal is merely to guide us—possibly toward something else, something we weren't even aware of at the time.
As we look ahead to the second half of the year, let's consider adjusting our sails on any ongoing projects and setting new goals for this winding journey.
For instance, when I think back on my career aspirations that brought me to the Pacific Northwest, I originally wanted to be a park ranger. While I didn't follow that exact path, I realize now how much of that dream I still live every day. I spend time in nature, learn from it, teach others about our local flora and fauna, and steward the land I love. In many ways, I'm fulfilling the essence of my original goal.
Let's embrace this midyear moment to reflect, adjust, and continue forward with compassion and understanding for ourselves and each other. With all their twists and turns, let’s see where our journeys lead us next.
