The Fragility of Life and The Importance of Gratitude

This time of year is always buzzing with community activities, and this year has been no exception! Over the past six weeks, we've been social butterflies—presenting at one garden club (with another on the horizon!), attending two farmers markets to debut Pacific Potions, engaging with curious folks at the Rainscaping Expo about water-wise landscapes, and reconnecting with eco-conscious friends at the Peak Sustainability Social Hour.

One of the highlights of the past few weeks was attending the Rainscaping Expo in Snohomish. We had wonderful conversations about regenerative landscapes, salmon-friendly gardens, and pollinator habitats, and it was inspiring to see so many people interested in creating sustainable outdoor spaces. The growing enthusiasm for landscapes that feature native plants, edibles, and multifunctional species has been exciting to witness, and we’re thrilled to continue contributing to these positive changes throughout the Puget Sound region.

As we reflect on all of these interactions, we’re filled with gratitude for the abundance we’ve received throughout the year—whether it’s the herbs from our own gardens (or shared from others), moments of growth in our personal journeys, or the wisdom shared within our community. October is a perfect time to appreciate these gifts and prepare for the season ahead. If you’re looking for ways to keep your garden healthy this winter, check out our Garden Guide for planting suggestions or our Garden Pro-Tips for tasks to tackle this month.

As we move into fall, we’re shifting focus to complete two exciting designs we’ve been working on, and we still have a few openings for new projects this winter.

For those new to our process, here’s a quick reminder of how we typically organize projects:

  • Consulting, Planning, and Designing
    January – April
    June – August

  • Site Prep and Installation
    September – January
    March – May

This October, let your garden be a place of reflection, gratitude, and fiery inspiration as we move into the next cycle. If you're interested in planning ahead for a new project, now’s the perfect time to get in touch! And we’d love to hear what you're grateful for this season—whether it's a favorite plant from your garden or a moment of personal growth. Feel free to share with us!
